Curtis Residence

This 1926 kitchen lost its charm a long time ago, leaving it tired and out-dated.

The new design eliminates the breakfast nook, which had become a storage area, and makes way for a half bath down the road when budget permits. By eliminating the wall between the kitchen and dining room, entertaining is easier and the two rooms relate better. To blend and create continuity, the wood floors have been brought into the kitchen, giving it a warm vibe consistent with the charm of the rest of the house.

We re-used some of the original redwood lumber to frame out the new walls, and re-purposed the door from the now-eliminated wall to also create continuity.
